SUMMARY:Skeet 101
DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Skeet: Saturday morning\, November 8 and 22 2025 \n  \nIf you have passed by the skeet field\, wanted to try it\, but don’t know how to start- this is for you. On two Saturday mornings this November we are offering an introduction to skeet class for novice shooters. Instruction and supervision will be provided by skeet range officers. Sign up is required since each class will be limited to five shooters. During the two-hour class you will learn the rules of skeet and have the opportunity to shoot at clay targets at several stations.  \nFAQ \n  \nDo I need to bring my own shotgun and ammo? \nBring a shotgun that fits you if you have one. The shotgun must have a shoulder stock such that it can be mounted. Open chokes such as cylinder\, skeet\, and IC are best. You must bring two boxes of ammo\, 50 shells in total\, and be aware that only shot size 8 and 9 are allowed on the skeet field. Appropriate shells can be purchased at the DCFS clubhouse. We can offer a 20 g shotgun for your use during each session but you must use factory 20-gauge ammo to use it. \nIs the class free? \nNot exactly. The instruction is free but you will need to bring two DCFS “trap and skeet tickets” or $8 in cash to cover the cost of clay targets that you will use. \nI am an experienced shotgun shooter and want expert coaching so that I can get better. Is this for me? \nNo. This is for novice clay target shooters or those have some experience but new to the sport of skeet. \nIs this a coaching session? \nNot exactly. The range officers are not certified coaches but quite experienced. You will learn rules of the game\, gun safety on the field\, as well as correct stance and an approach to several presentations of the clay targets. \nI have a busy life and have trouble planning ahead. Can I just show up for the session? \nNo\, advance registration is required. \nWhat will I get from this session that I can’t get by just shooting skeet on my own? \nYou get all the information you need to start at once in a relaxed setting with other shooters at your level. When you shoot in a regular squad there is usually no time for personal instruction. \nIs this open to shooters of all ages\, men and women? \nFor several reasons these sessions are limited to shooters of 13 or older but otherwise open to all members of DCFS. \nCan I sign up for both mornings? \nTo offer this to many you are limited to one morning class. But you will have opportunities in the future since we hope to offer other sessions in the coming months. \n  \nDo I have to be a member of DCFS? \nThese sessions are limited to members of DCFS and only one guest from their family. Please take care of getting the guest pass before class. We are limiting registration to no more than two members or one member and guest from each family. \n  \nWhat do I need to bring? \nYou must wear eye protection and ear protection on the skeet ranges. Wear clothes warm enough for the day but it is best to avoid bulky clothing like a down jacket since they can interfere with mounting the shotgun to your shoulder. A hat is helpful if the sun is shining. A shooting vest with pockets and/or a shell pouch are desirable. \nThe skeet range-specific rules can be found at: \nSkeet Range – Delaware County Field & Stream Association \nWill it be fun? \nThat is always up to you but we plan to provide useful instruction in safe setting that should be fun and not at all competitive. No guarantee but it is very likely you will break some clay targets even if you have never held a shotgun before. \nWhat time does it start and end ? \nEach session starts at 9:30am and will finish around 11:30am. Please arrive no later than 9am. If you cannot make the session\, cancellation is requested 24 hours prior so that someone else can get in. Watch your email the day before class if the weather is unsettled since it may be cancelled if the prediction is for high winds or heavy rain. \nWhat if I have a question about the class? \nBest to email alexander.mamourian@gmail.com or Charles.ford1944@gmail.com. \n  \nREGISTRATION FOR 11/8/25 EVENT: \nhttps://lp.constantcontactpages.com/ev/reg/dyqu545 \n  \n  \nREGSITRATION FOR 11/22/25 EVENT: \nhttps://lp.constantcontactpages.com/ev/reg/nvjrbth
