About the Rim-Fire Range

In 1942 a Small bore Rifle range was created by members. Over the years it enjoyed many upgrades to become the Rim-Fire Rifle Range we know today. The Rim-fire Rifle Range is an ideal place to shoot 22 Long Rifle, 22 Short, 22 Magnum, and 17 HMR rim-fire cartridges. Rifles that use Center-Fire rifle cartridges are NOT permitted on the Rim-fire Range.

Please ask a Range officer for assistance if you have questions about acceptable ammunition.

The Rim-fire range has a total of fourteen shooting lanes. Four lanes are 15 yards and ten lanes are 50 yards. The 15-yard lanes are numbered 1 through 4 and have backer boards for shooting 22 Long and Short cartridges. The 50-yard lanes are numbered 1 through 10. Lanes 1 through 6 have backer boards for paper targets. At the bottom of lanes 5 and 6 are ten metal flat plate “knock down” targets known as “Dragon’s Teeth.” Lanes 7 and 8 have metal “knock down” animal targets instead of backer boards. All reactive, “knock down” targets can be reset automatically by pressing a button at the firing line. In addition, dispersed among the first eight lanes are various “gong” and “flip” targets for the shooter’s enjoyment. The ONLY TWO lanes that allow shooting 22 Magnum and 17 HMR cartridges are at 50 yards on lanes numbered 9 and 10 and have backer boards only. No magnum cartridges are permitted to be fired at any metal targets.

Shooters can enjoy competitive fun throughout the year with organized Offhand and Bench-Rest matches. Or, beat winter’s cabin fever by joining the 5 week Winter Offhand League. There is a complete shoot schedule under the Rim-fire Range Matches tab or our calendar.
