2026 Skeet Pentathlon

Published December 25, 2025

2026 Skeet Hexathlon (Now Pentathlon) starts in January

This year there will be six non-registered skeet events that will be held on the skeet fields at DCFS. All are welcome and we encourage you try all variations of skeet we offer this year. The course of fire and required shotguns may vary for each event but all events will be on the two DCFS skeet fields.

You will shoot each event in squads of 4 or 5 shooters. All standard skeet rules of will be followed and adjudicated by a referee who will keep score for your 50 shots but course of fire for some of these events.

There will be prizes for the winner of each event with an overall winner determined based on your top 4 scores from the six events.

Requirements: You must be a member or registered guest at DCFS. Ear and eye protection are required on the skeet fields. Cost of each event is $5 and two skeet/trap tickets for the targets. Save your 7 ½ shells for trap- size 8, 8.5, or 9 shot is required or all skeet fields.

What time?: All events start at 11am. To register come to the shed on skeet field A at 10:30am on the day of the event. Squads will be arranged there.

Events and dates:

January 31, 2026 Side by side

Regular skeet but you must shoot a side-by-side shotgun in any gauge. If you don’t have one you can share a shotgun with another shooter but best to make that sharing arrangement prior to event.

February 28, 2026 Reverse

Any gun but you will shoot the regular skeet event in reverse, i.e. start at station 8, Low then high bird, same at 7, 6 etc. At station 1,2,6,7 you will shoot the doubles before the singles and at 7 you must shoot the double in reverse, high bird then low.

March 28, 2026 Sub-gauge

Regular skeet with any gun but bring a sub-gauge shotgun to collect bonus points. You can shoot any shotgun gauge in this event but if you use 28g you get 1 bonus bird for your 50 shots or even better- shoot .410 for three bonus birds per 50 shots.

April 25, 2026 “In between”

For this event you will shoot from marked pads that are in between the regular skeet stations around the semi-circle. That makes six pads and at each station you will shoot four shots, first the high bird, then low bird then a double. That makes 24 shots. Save the 25th shell from the first round so that after the second round you will have two shells to shoot station 8 for your final station at the end standing just off the 8 pad on the side of the bird.

May 30, 2026 Regular skeet

Regular skeet any gauge any gun, your choice no bonus birds.

June 27, 2026  Ed Mayne Challenge –Pump Gun Only.

This the final event and generously sponsored by Don Hanby again this year.

Regular skeet but you must shoot a pump shotgun, same bonus for subgauge guns as the March event. Last year the overall scores were close near the finish so should be interesting.

The overall winner for the 2026 Hexathlon will be announced after this event.
