Close Range Pistol Shooting

Members are constantly asking for pistol targets closer than 15 yards.  We heard you.  On November 5th we will hold an EDC clinic allowing you to shoot your Every Day Carry defensive pistol at close range.

Target stands will be placed in front of the 25-yard baffles.  Fault lines will be placed 7 yards in front of the targets.  They may be moved up to 5 yards if desired.  For this clinic you may load both your mags with up to ten (10) rounds.  Single stack shooters with lower capacity mags may bring three to the line, loaded with up to twenty (20) rounds total.  Shoot until empty, make the gun safe, holster, then go load your mags for the next round.

We will have a dry fire session where you draw from your concealed carry holster and simulate firing.  There will be audible start and stop signals.  We’ll start slowly and decrease the time interval as you progress.  The idea is to have you practice your draw and fire.  The purpose of this drill is to inform your fight or flight response if you encounter a defensive situation.  Again, this is dry fire only.  Drawing from a concealed carry holster and live firing is not permitted.

Setup starts at 8 AM.  Come out and help setup.  Registration starts at 8:30.  Clinic and rules briefing at 8:55.  Hammer down at 9.  You must be present for the briefing because the rules are different than normal range rules.  If you cannot make it by 9, come anyway.  We will have another briefing for late arrivals.

Registration fee is $5 to cover the cost of expendables.  We supply the stands and targets.  All you need to bring is your gun, holster, and lots of ammo.  This clinic is open to members only.  No guests.

Note: Remember to transport ONLY CASED handguns from the car to the clinic area. The carrying of a naked handgun, holstered handgun, or wearing a holstered handgun anywhere on club property is PROHIBITED.
